What can I say? He did an AMAZING job! I knew it could be any day during Christmas break, but I wasn’t expecting what he had planned. As far as I knew, he was just taking me home for Christmas break. We went shopping for a couple of hours in Rhinelander before heading home. We decided to separate to be able to “shop for each other.” Little did I know that he was checking with people to make sure everything was set for his plan! We started on our way home and forty minutes outside of Rhinelander he turned off onto a road unexpectedly. Of course, even though I LOVE surprises, I attacked him with fifty questions in the thirty seconds it took to get to the destination. The place was a little resort/farm tucked away about 200 yards off the highway. Waiting for us there was a horse-drawn sleigh ride, which was equipped with hay, a bear fur blanket and a nice man in a pink snow hat. At the time I wasn’t thinking that he was going to ask, since just last week we had talked about how it would be fun to on a sleigh ride together (not knowing that he had had this planned for a couple months already). I just thought it was a great surprise date. God gave us a beautiful day. The forecast was set at 10 degrees and mostly cloudy, but it ended up being 22 degrees and blue skies! Andrew told me that after the sleigh ride they would provide us with hot chocolate in this little cabin area, so we went in there. In the cabin for us were hot chocolate, chocolate fondue, a fireplace and Christmas music playing. It was really cozy. We talked and ate our chocolate dipped strawberries. The whole time I was thinking that this was really sweet of him to take me here, but not letting myself get my hopes up for fear of being disappointed if it didn’t happen. When we were finished he asked me to go to the back room where I would find a present waiting for me there. I walked in and there were a dozen red roses waiting for me. Meanwhile he was getting the camera and CD ready. He told me to bring the flowers out and sit down by him because there was something that went a long with the flowers. At that time, he started playing an accompaniment CD which Tabitha Odel (Mowen) had recorded for him. He had written a song for me. While he was singing the first two verses that talked about our past, we flipped through pictures of the past four years together. Of course I was crying because it brought back so many good memories. Then he transitioned into the third verse where he had me turn and face him. He began singing about our future together and what the Lord could do with our lives. At the end of that verse he sang, “Now on one knee, here I am, with a question to ask of you..” and then he asked me to marry him. I actually remembered to say yes too! Immediately after that, he rushed me outside where we watched a fireworks display. And these weren’t just any fireworks; the show lasted for about ten minutes! I just stared up into the sky as I praised God for the wonderful man that He gave to me to spend the rest of my life with. God is SO good!!
